Types of wells

1. Dug Wells :-

  • Historically all dug  wells were evcavated by hand and were today the same method is widely employed. A typical dug wells is often no more than an irregular hole in the ground that intersect the water table. A pick and shovel are the basic implements. The well was lined with a stone, brick, tile or other material concrete tile because to prevent collapse and was cover with a cap of wood, stone or  concrete tile. Because of the type of construction bore wells can go deeper the water table then can hand dug wells.

 2. Driven wells:-

  • Driven wells are constructed by driving a small diameter pipe into shallow water bearing sand or gravel. Usually a screened well point is attached to the buttom of the casing before driving.

 3.  Drilled wells:-

  • Drilled wells are constructed by either cable tool or rotary drilling machine. Drilled well that penetrate unconsolidated material required installation of casing and a screen to prevent in flow of sediment and collapse. They can be drilled more than 100 feet deep.
